In this edition of INSEAD Knowledge, we focus on innovation and examine China and India's progress with professors Anil Gupta and Hellmut Schütte. We speak to SD Shibulal, one of the co-founders of Indian IT firm Infosys, and meet Gary Wang, the INSEAD alumnus who created China's answer to YouTube. In this month's Big Interview, Sam Pitroda, the IT and innovation advisor to India's prime minister, tells us why he thinks companies should be using innovation to help the very poor at the bottom of the pyramid.

Also in this newsletter, we take a look at INSEAD's entrepreneurship initiatives with professor Hans Wahl and find out why two INSEAD alumni believe a new programme has helped them on the road to achieving their goals.

In a section called ‘Managing your organisation’, we find out about research by a team led by INSEAD’s Andrew Shipilov and Frederic Godart into why losing employees can be beneficial, while Mary Yoko Brannen examines the benefits of hiring a diverse workforce which feels at home in multiple cultures.

In our ‘op-eds’ section, emeritus professor Jonathan Story looks at Europe’s role on the global stage, and Ludo Van der Heyden discusses corporate governance and how companies should approach supervision and business execution.

Finally, in the section 'Elsewhere on Knowledge', we feature professor Javier Gimeno's Leadercast interview with Mubadala CFO Carlos Obeid (MBA '91D), and we speak to Orient-Express CEO Paul White about the business of making dreams come true.

As ever, we welcome your feedback and comments.

Regards,
Stuart Pallister (Editor) and the INSEAD Knowledge team.
