You may notice a few changes this month as we're revamping INSEAD Knowledge, starting with the monthly newsletters. We're introducing a cover story - the theme this month is corporate governance - and also in this edition we'll be looking at entrepreneurship and sustainability.

You will also find a new op-ed section, featuring commentary from INSEAD professors. In this edition, Theo Vermaelen examines the impact of the removal of Mark Hurd as Hewlett Packard's CEO on shareholder value at HP and Luk Van Wassenhove takes a look at social innovation at INSEAD.

As usual, we look forward to getting your feedback and comments.

Launching a new venture is no easy feat, given issues such as funding and talent, which entrepreneurs have to grapple with. However, passion and confidence can help.

Entrepreneurship: inspiring ambitions

Entrepreneurs need to have plenty of self-confidence and be passionate about their projects - not just when starting up their own businesses but also when working within large corporations.

Energy's final frontier

For Peter Sage, the sky isn't really the limit. It's even higher, somewhere around 36,000 kilometres above the Earth's atmosphere.

A leap into languages

Some entrepreneurs are born into the role. Such was the case of Tom Adams who, at the age of 30, became CEO for a family business selling language-learning software.

"I like the INSEAD spirit of saying it truly embraces the world," says Paul Desmarais, Jr, "and not just the business world, but the social world and other things of that nature so that INSEAD grads can really be people who can move the dial."

Energy security - or perhaps that should be insecurity - will be a major concern in the years ahead as economies try to cope with uncertainty and rising energy costs. In addition, cleaner sources of energy will be needed. So what is the outlook for gas and electricity supplies in the next 10 to 15 years?

Energy security: a picture of uncertainty

Uncertainty surrounds the security and sustainability of energy supplies in the UK from 2015 onwards, with energy prices rising - in some cases - to uncomfortably high levels. Grace Segran reports from London on The Economist's recent UK Energy Summit.

Sustainability and your corporate strategy

Sustainability. Can it become a central part of corporate strategy? Today, the answer is: it had better be.

A unique opportunity to become the world's centre of eco-innovation

Innovation for green growth is the new mantra for advanced economies, writes Sami Mahroum. From Australia to the United States, governments are pouring billions of dollars, euros and yen into eco-innovation programmes.
