INSEAD's Global Thought Leaders: Ideas With Power

Update: Herminia Ibarra, INSEAD Professor of Organisational Behaviour won the 2013 Thinkers50 Leadership Award and was ranked number 9 on the organisation's ranking of top management thinkers. W. Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne, INSEAD Professors of Strategy and Management took second place in the top 50 thinkers ranking. INSEAD Professors Hal Gregersen, Gianpiero Petriglieri and Erin Meyer were all placed on the Thinkers50 Radar.

True thought leaders change the way we look at the world. Their ideas disrupt accepted practices and set a new path for others to follow. This year, seven INSEAD professors, more than any other business school, were identified among the world’s most influential business disrupters, by Thinkers50 a biennial, ranking of management and leadership thinkers. Their ideas are changing organisations and challenging business thinking.

Herminia Ibarra, Hal Gregersen, Laurence Capron, Gianpiero  Petriglieri, Morten Hansen, W Chan Kim and Renee Mauborgne were shortlisted for the 2013 Thinkers50 Awards – widely regarded as the “Oscars” of management ideas.

In a special series, INSEAD Knowledge interviewed the school's new thinking superstars about their work and research and how their ideas broke new ground and made a difference. The exclusive interviews can be viewed here.

“For too long business thinking could be characterised as male, pale and stale, that is no longer the case,” notes Stuart Crainer who, with partner Des Dearlove launched Thinkers50 in 2001.  “As management becomes more global and people move around the world it’s increasingly difficult to pinpoint exactly which country a thinker comes from.”

INSEAD’s shortlisted professors encapsulate this global diversity, coming from three continents promoting ideas with the potential to impact social and business management practices across the planet.
