Yasser Al-Saleh is a Senior Research Fellow at the INSEAD Innovation & Policy Initiative (IIPI). He comes from an engineering background and has previously worked in the oil industry. He was awarded a PhD from the Manchester Institute of Innovation Research (MIoIR/PREST -- The University of Manchester) for his novel examination of the emergence of clean-tech industries using an innovation system perspective.
Over the past few years, Dr. Al-Saleh has published over twenty peer-reviewed academic papers and, in 2010, he published his first book entitled The Prospects for Sustainable Innovation within Oil-rich Gulf Cooperation Council. He reviews papers for scholarly journals and currently sits on the editorial board of the following journals: Geopolitics of Energy; Journal of Cleaner Production; International Journal of Transitions and Innovation Systems;International Journal of Technological Learning, Innovation and Development; International Journal of Innovation and Knowledge Management in Middle East and North Africa.
Prior to joining the INSEAD Innovation & Policy Initiative (IIPI), Dr. Al-Saleh worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Masdar Institute of Science and Technology - established in collaboration with the MIT - where he was engaged in several research projects in the field of sustainable energy innovation.
