Alfred Schipke is the IMF Senior Resident Representative for China. In this, capacity he provides policy advice, leads the analytical work of the office, and engages with academia and think tanks. Previously, he was a division chief in the Asia and Pacific Department, where he coordinated the work on fast growing low-income countries in South-East Asia (Frontier Economies). He led missions to Vietnam and countries in Latin America and negotiated a number IMF programs. He teaches international finance at Peking University’s National School of Development and Harvard’s Kenney School of Government. He has authored and edited several books and articles.
