Liane Schmidt
Biography
Liane Schmidt is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at INSEAD. In October 2017, she will join INSERM in Paris as a research scientist.
Liane earned her PhD at the Pierre et Marie Curie Paris VI University in France, for her investigation of the neuropsychological determinants of incentive motivation in humans. Her scientific background stems from the cognitive neurosciences. She earned her Bsc in Biology from Friedrich Schiller University Jena in Germany, her Bsc in psychology from the Rene Descartes Paris IV University in France, and her MSc in Biology from the Albert-Ludwigs University Freiburg in Germany.
Prior to joining INSEAD, Liane worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at Columbia University in New York. Her research aimed at a better understanding of the neural underpinnings of incentive effects on memory, learning and decision-making in Parkinson’s disease. In her current work at INSEAD she investigates how the brain-gut interaction drives decision-making and motivation in healthy and obese subjects.
Liane’s writings have been published in international peer reviewed journals such as Science, Journal of Neuroscience, Nature Neuroscience and Psychological Science.
Liane’s native tongue is German and she is fluent in English and French.
