Lucie Tepla

Senior Affiliate Professor of Finance

Biography

Lucie Tepla is a Senior Affiliate Professor of Finance at INSEAD. She holds a PhD in Operations Research and Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University, an MBA from the Simon School of Business, University of Rochester and a BA in Management Science and Computing from the University of Kent. Her research focuses on investments and portfolio theory and has been published in leading academic journals such as Management Science and the Review of Finance. Before joining INSEAD, Lucie worked for Barclays de Zoete Wedd, Crédit Suisse and Cornerstone Research, a litigation consulting firm. Lucie has also taught graduate level and executive education courses at Stanford University and London Business School.

Lucie teaches on a wide range of capital markets and corporate finance topics in both degree and Executive Education programmes. She also directs INSEAD’s flagship Transition to General Management programme as well as company-specific Executive Education programmes for various clients, including ABN AMRO, Société Générale, HSBC, KPMG and EY. Lucie has been a multiple recipient of the Dean’s Commendation for Excellence in MBA Teaching as well as winner of the Outstanding Teacher Award for MBA Core Courses at INSEAD. She has also received the Executive Education Award for Outstanding Programme Direction.

Lucie’s current focus is on sustainable finance, understanding how sustainability issues impact providers of capital and how owners and lenders can support businesses in becoming more sustainable. She teaches on these topics both in degree programmes as well as for banking, consulting and corporate clients in Executive Education. Lucie has co-authored several case studies on sustainable finance topics, such as low carbon investing and sustainability linked financing. She is also co-programme director for the INSEAD Sustainability Leadership for Senior Executives Certificate and chairs the committee on Responsible Investing for the INSEAD Endowment.
