Biography

Stephan is an Adjunct Professor of Strategy & International Business at INSEAD. He obtained a Doctorate in Economics at Sorbonne Paris North University with the highest distinction (“très honorable avec félicitations”). He also holds a master’s in human resource management from ESSEC Business School in Paris.

Stephan has been affiliated with INSEAD since 2011 and directs and teaches on corporate partnership programmes in Fontainebleau and for the Middle East campus in Abu Dhabi. Current clients include Daiichi Sankyo Europe, SEFE, Golf Saudi, ESNAD Saudi Mining Services, Emirates NBD Bank, and HDFC Life from India.

His teaching covers the various areas how individual and collective mind sets, dynamics, and behaviours impact performance–both at organisational and individual level.

Stephan has a particular interest in the concept of “power” in organizations and how it differs across national cultures. He is currently pursuing a book project to help executives navigate complex organisational dynamics–for the sake of their own careers as much as for the benefit of their organisations.

In 2022/23, The Case Centre ranked him among the global Top 50 bestselling case authors.

Born in Germany, Stephan holds French and British citizenship. He lives in Vienna.
